Dr. Bob Thomas will discuss the amphibian survey to be conducted in our area. He will be recruiting volunteers from our organization

We have 6 eight foot tables available to us for the Gator Fest. The event will take place on the first Saturday in April which is the 6th and will be from 10:00am till 5:00pm. We will start setting up at 9:00am!!

We will be displaying reptiles from all over and hope to have a big participation from members in bringing out some of their herps. As of right now Ryan, Steve, Lonnie and myself pretty much have the tortoise and turtle category covered. We need members to bring some snakes, lizards and frogs.

Sunday 2:00 PM - Monthly Meeting

Jeff Bounty with the LDWF will speak on the conservation efforts of the Gopher tortoise in the Gulf coast region.

The event is a joint venture between the Nature Center and the LA/SPCA. The event will focus on such things as exotic pets - making wise choices, feral cat problems, animal assistance - tracking, drug sniffing, blind assistance etc, cockfighting in La, falconry etc. The goal is for visitors to understand that getting a pet comes with responsibility.

This is an opportunity to show off your favorite herps.  Also you might want to bring surplus stock to swap with other members.

The Show will again be at the Crazy Carl's Fireworks building in on the I-10 Service Road at the Oak Harbor exit in Slidell.  For additional information contact Eric.

The meeting will be dedicated to a discussion of the Orleans regulations regarding reptiles. Ms. Laura Maloney of the SPCA will be participating as well as members of our Advisory Board.

There will be no monthly LGCHS meeting in September.  LGCHS members are encouraged to the ETHS annual conference.  This is a great event and is attended by many LGCHS members.

Dr. Brian I. Crother  will give a presentation titled "Biochemistry and Herp Genetics: Molecules, Mothers, and Making Mountains out of Mole Hills."
