This bulletin is to serve as our monthly news letter. A link will be emailed to members early
each month as a meeting reminder. The bulletin will also present reminders for other happenings
scheduled for the near future. Paper copies will be sent to members without email. If you have a
suggestion for this bulletin please bring it to the next meeting or email it to the

Congratulations to the new LGCHS Board of Directors!! They are Steve Castellanos, Thomas Eimermacher, Patti
Faurie, Fred Mattingly, Rodney Oliveri, Lonnie Senior and Bill Watts. The new slate of officers will
be presented at the December meeting / Christmas party.
We are looking forward to the leadership of Fred Mattingly and his visions for the Society in 2004. Fred was elected by the
Board of Directors to be the President in 2004. Our warmest thanks to outgoing President Ryan McDonald for the job that he
did in 2003.
The BI-annual Herpetological Research Group met at the LUMCOM Facility in Cocodrie on November 21, 22 & 23 and had
over 40 participants. LGCHS members included Ernie Liner, Joseph Pechmann, James Askew, Bill Watts,
George Alexander, Ralph Latapie, Theron Magers and Bob Thomas. The Keynote speaker was Brad Moon of ULL who made
a presentation on the shaker muscles in Rattlesnakes. The other professors and their students made 10 minute presentations
on various research work being done with reptiles & amphibians in the Gulf South. The evening meals consisted of fried and
boiled seafood. The next meeting will be in 2005.
