From the Legislative Committee:
Theron Magers,  Chairman of the Louisiana Reptile & Amphibian Task Force,  has informed the LGCHS that the new alligator snapping turtle (Macroclemys temminckii) state regulations are effective as of Saturday, November 20.   The daily catch limit was changed from four (4) to one (1) for any body with a recreational fishing license and there are no allowed sales of these turtles or their parts.  There is no possession limit.  Anyone holding a commercial fishing license or any commercial reptile/amphibian license may no longer possess alligator snapping turtles or their parts.   If you are a holder of a commercial license and have had possession of these turtles before Nov. 20,  you have 90 days to apply to the LDWF for an exemption permit.  Their phone number is 225-765-2800.

We are accepting 2005 membership renewals for $15.  If you were a member before October 2004,  you may mail in your dues to LGCHS,  PO Box 113483,  Metairie LA 70011-3483.

Society Polo Shirts are available with your name embroidered under the logo over the left pocket for $15.  If you want the Tarantula logo on the sleeve it is an extra $3.  If you bring it back later for the logo it is $6.  It is $8 if you want a logo put on a shirt or whatever that you already have.  Contact Bill Watts or call 504-710-8456.  We also have some hats with the Snapper logo available for $15.
