January Meeting

Sunday,  January 8,  2:00 PM at the Rivertown Cottage in Kenner  -  directions

Thomas Eimermacher,  the LGCHS vice-president,  will will give us a presentation entitled "Exotic Reptiles in private Care - An Overview and Perspective."  Thomas will talk about the ramification of exotic reptiles kept by the private sector.  Last year Dan Maloney,  Vice-President of the Audubon Nature Institute,   asked Thomas to give this presentation to the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA).  This group is historically somewhat opposed to the private ownership of exotic reptiles.  Thomas's presentation was well received.  Keeping and propagating reptiles are activities that lie close to the heart of our organization.  Therefore it is important that we understand and are able to voice these principles.  I expect a hearty discussion to follow the presentation.

Last Meeting

The December meeting was our annual pot luck holiday party.   About 45 members enjoyed a great meal and a wonderful afternoon of fellowship.   Many thanks to Ralph Latapie for the barbecued alligator ribs and the sauce picante and all of the members for the great food.   Jacque Mayeaux won the door prize which was a book entitled REPTILE KEEPERS HANDBOOK by Susan Bernard which was donated by Krieger Publishing Company.
