Dr. Haley Burke Will talk about treating tarantulas in her veternary practice. Dr. Burke promises to share some of
her first hand experiences. This will be interesting.
3:00 PM - LGCHS
Fred Mattingly will give a presentation about "Computer and Internet resources for Herp and Invertebrate
enthusiasts". Electronic herping! There is an infinite amount of information on the web if you know
where to look.
Last Meeting
Dr. Bob Thomas gave a presentation called "Herpetology then and now: a
perspective from 50 years in the field and a view of the future." Dr. Thomas reminded us how things used to be and shared some thoughts
on some activities to expand the horizon of our society.

This bulletin is to serve as our monthly news letter. A link will be emailed to members early
each month as a meeting reminder. The bulletin will also present reminders for other happenings
scheduled for the near future. Paper copies will be sent to members without email. If you have a

From the Legislative Committee:
The Restricted Snake (Snakes over 12 ft and venomous) regulations for the State of Louisiana are scheduled to be heard at the
April DWF Commission meeting. This project has been undergoing for two years and is now coming to fruition. This will
be a public meeting and we encourage any interested members to attend.
Sulcatas, Leopard and Bell’s hingeback tortoises must have a health certificate from a veterinarian certifying that they are tick
free before they can cross state lines. The certificate can’t be older than 30 days. This is a federal regulation that
has been in effect for a couple of years. We just wanted to remind you about it as the reptile show season approaches.

Our next upcoming event is Earth Fest at the Audubon Zoo, March 19 & 20. Contact
Lonnie Senior for participation details.
If anyone is available for an educational outreach project, please contact Lonnie Senior. There are two scheduled as
of this time. The first one is Tuesday, March 22 at 2:00 in Metairie and the next one is on Saturday, April 16
in Franklinton.
Membership dues for 2005 are due! If you were a member before October 2004, you may mail in your
dues to LGCHS, PO Box 113483, Metairie LA 70011-3483 or bring them to the meeting. Please do this as soon as
possible as to expedite our bookkeeping. If you have a question about your membership, email

Society Polo Shirts are available with your name embroidered under the logo over the left pocket for $15. If you want
the Tarantula logo on the sleeve it is an extra $3. If you bring it back later for the logo it is $6. It is $8 if you
want a logo put on a shirt or whatever that you already have. Contact Bill Watts or call
504-710-8456. We also have some hats with the Snapper logo available for $15.
