May Meeting

Sunday,  May 15,  2:00 PM at the Rivertown Cottage in Kenner  -  directions

This month we will try something new.   This meeting will host a crawfish boil.  This event was suggested by several members so we will give it a try.   We will start on Saturday,  May 14,  with a trip to the marsh to catch some crawfish and maybe a herp or two.  We have a couple of experienced hands to lead the group if you would like to join in.   We have made arrangements to purchase additional crawfish if needed.  A crew will begin early on Sunday boiling the crawfish at the meeting site so they will be ready for 2:00 PM.  The club will provide soft drinks and all of the crawfish you can eat.  A fee of $5.00 per person will be charged to help cover expenses.  You must let us know if you will attend so that we will have enough crawfish.  Email Lonnie Senior If you will attend the outing on Saturday or the festivities on Sunday.

Last Meeting

Dr. Roberto Agilar,  senior veterinarian at the Audubon Zoo,   gave us a presentation on alligator gastroscopy.  This is the method used to remove things like rocks and coins from alligators with minimum negative effect to the alligator.  Dr. Agilar also provided some interesting information on amphibians.
