Reptile Shows:

September 9 & 10 is the annual East Texas Herp Society Expo in Houston Texas.  Information about this event can be found at www.eths.org.


From the Legislative Committee:

The LGCHS Legislative Committee and the Exotic Pet Owners Association are working with the Jefferson Parish Council and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries,  via the Reptile & Amphibian Task Force,  to rewrite existing animal & reptile regulations.  If anyone is interested in participating in these discussions please notify Bill Watts or call 504-710-8456.

The Exotic Pet Owners Association (EPOA) is accepting donations to fund legislative action for the 2007 session.  The purpose of the EPOA is to work with The LGCHS and a lobbyist to tell the reptile industry’s side of the story to the Legislators.  Donations can be mailed to EPOA,   PO Box 2942, Harvey LA 70059-2942.  Donations of $100 or more will get a navy blue bucket hat with the EPOA logo.  Contact epoa@cox.net or call Bill Watts at 504-710-8456 for more information.

Education:

Snakes n’ Things is scheduled for Saturday, September 30 at the Rivertown Museum Complex in Kenner.   This is your chance to show off your stuff.  Email David Chiasson or call 504-810-3493 for participation or more information.

Nominating Committee:

The Nominating Committee will present its slate of Nominees for the 2007 LGCHS Board of Directors at the September General Meeting.  The Committee wishes to thank everyone who submitted a candidate & those that participated with interviews.


The 2006 membership renewals are $15 and are now due. If you were a member or became a member before Hurricane Katrina, you may mail in your dues to LGCHS, PO Box 113483, Metairie LA 70011-3483. Please do this as soon as possible as to expedite our bookkeeping.

Society Polo Shirts are available with your name embroidered under the logo over the left pocket for $15.  If you want the Tarantula logo on the sleeve it is an extra $3.  If you bring it back later for the logo it is $6.  It is $8 if you want a logo put on a shirt or whatever that you already have.  Contact Bill Watts or call 504-710-8456.  We also have some hats with the Snapper logo available for $15.
