  The day will start with a field trip tp the spillway.  All interested members are invited to meet for our annual pre-crawfish boil herp trip at the Bonnet Carre Spillway guided by the one-and-only Spillway Herper (aka David Heidel).   A current LA fishing license will be required to collect any specimens.  All participants will need to bring their own herping equipment as well as insect repellant.  The group will meet At 8:00 AM sharp at the parking lot located on the river front in Kenner across the street from the wildlife and fisheries building.  Keep in mind some areas may not be accessible by automobile therefore walking will be required.   The afternoon event will be the LGCHS Annual Crawfish Boil. It will start at 2:00 p.m. at the Rivertown Cottage in Kenner.     Over the past few years this has proved to be a very successful and enjoyable event.  To cover the cost of this event a small donation of $10 will be asked from each participant.  Soft drinks will be provided by the LGCHS.  Please RSVP to swampman@bellsouth.net so that we will know how many crawfish to purchase.

  Monthly Meeting - Kisatche National Forest
  
  It's time again to start preparing for one of our most popular events,  The Annual 2008 Kisatchie Field Trip.   For those of you who are not familiar with this event,  we drive up on Friday afternoon for a BBQ at Theron Magers house,  stay the night,  and the next day we herp the forest.  There is limited floor space to sleep in the house and a large yard for tents if you wish to camp,  There are also several hotels in the area (see below for directions to Therons and Hotels).  Another thing to remember,  if you plan on collecting in the forest,   a Louisiana fishing license is required and make sure to bring any equipment you might need (tents,  sleeping bags,  blankets,  pillows as well as herping equipment such as hooks,  bags,  etc).  As I said,  Friday night there will be a BBQ and some drinks provided.  If you prefer a particular beverage or just don't care for BBQ you may want to consider bringing your own food and/or drinks.  It would be nice to have a count of how many people will be attending this year in order to arrange to have enough food for everyone.   From New Orleans take I-10 West to Lafayette,  Exit on I-49 North,  Boyce is on I-49 approximately 15 miles North of Alexandria.  Take the first Boyce Exit which is LA-1.  The exit puts you directly on LA-1 North.   Turn left just before the caution light on Longford St. A funeral home is on the corner.  It is the first house on the right past the funeral home. @ 716 Longford.

  The November meeting is the official annual LGCHS meeting.  This is when we elect the 2008 board of directors and conduct the club's business for the year.  The business part of the meeting will be a brief formality as the bulk of the club's business is attended to by the board at separate meetings.

  This is our annual Holiday Party!!  It will be our traditional potluck dinner.  The club will supply the main course, drinks and plates and stuff.  Attendees should bring whatever dish they like.  Expect a great meal.   Also we will have a Chinese gift exchange.  If you would like to participate bring a wrapped gift,  herp related,   with a value of $10 to $15.  I hope to see you there.
