A new law goes into effect November 15

Starting November 15 a new rule goes into effect that requires breeders and sellers of venomous snakes and some boas and pythons to have a Reptile/Amphibian Wholesale/Retail Dealer license.  Additionally keepers of boas and pythons over 8 feet in length must have a restricted snake permit.  For a more complete synopsis of Louisiana laws click here.  To see the new law click here.  I am working on a Louisiana Regulations section for this website.  I hope to have it up soon.

Behind the Scenes Tour of the Reptile House at the Audubon Zoo

Sunday, July 31st at 1:00pm

A LGCHS outing and a behind the scenes tour of the Reptile house at the Audubon Zoo has been arranged for Sunday, July 31st at 1:00pm.  The zoo has been gracious enough to comp our visit, but we will take up a collection to adopt an animal (reptile) at the zoo as a thank you.  We will need to enter the zoo as a group and they would like a head count before we arrive.  If you are a current LGCHS member and would like to attend this outing, please email info@lgchs.org with your name and how many people will be attending.  You must be on the list to attend.  I look forward to seeing you on the 31st.
